Kimberly Shaw Named West Collierville Middle School Principal

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. – Collierville Schools Superintendent Dr. Russell Dyer is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Kimberly Shaw as the next principal of West Collierville Middle School. Shaw, who currently serves as assistant principal at Schilling Farms Elementary School, will succeed Mr. Tyler Salyer in the role. Salyer announced in February that he had accepted appointment as the new high school principal at Briarcrest Christian School beginning July 1.

“Selecting the right principal for West Collierville Middle School is pivotal in shaping the educational journey of our students,” said Dyer. “Mrs. Kimberly Shaw brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and vision to this role, and I am confident that her leadership will foster an environment where every student thrives.”

For the five years prior to joining Schilling Farms Elementary School, Shaw served as principal at two Memphis-Shelby County Schools – Rozelle Creative and Performing Arts Optional School and Ridgeway Middle International Baccalaureate World Optional School. Under her leadership, Rozelle was named a Reward School by the Tennessee Department of Education. At Ridgeway, she played an instrumental role in the successful reauthorization process of the International Baccalaureate program.

“I am highly honored and eager to serve as the principal of West Collierville Middle School,” stated Shaw. “I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and inclusivity where every individual is valued and supported. Through rigorous academics, innovative instruction, and meaningful relationships, we will work together to inspire lifelong learners who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and character to thrive in an ever-changing world. I look forward to continuing the rich legacy of high-level academics, arts, athletics, and strong sense of community that is West Collierville Middle!”

Shaw began her professional career in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1998 as an elementary school teacher before returning to the Memphis area in 1999. Her first administrative appointment was as an assistant principal at Highland Oaks Middle School in legacy Shelby County Schools. She also served as vice principal at Snowden Optional School for three years prior to her arrival at Rozelle in 2018.

A native of Memphis, Shaw earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1998 and a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Memphis in 2008. Shaw currently resides in Collierville with her family and has been a Collierville Schools parent and community member since 2008. She will officially assume her role as principal on July 1, 2024.
