We strive to serve appealing, tasty, and nutritious meals in a pleasant atmosphere at an affordable cost. The statement, "You cannot teach a hungry child," is our incentive to meet the nutritional needs for our students. Students are encouraged to try new foods and use the cafeteria as a learning laboratory for making nutritious choices. Balance, moderation, and variety are the keys to healthier eating. If we can instill this into our children today, we will have healthier adults in the future.

  • School Nutrition uses PrimeroEdge, as its school nutrition data software provider.  PrimeroEdge is a leading provider of software solutions for Child Nutrition departments in K-12 school districts across the country.  PrimeroEdge's online payment system, SchoolCafe, enables School Nutrition to offer parents an alternative way to make meal payments using either a credit or debit card.  SchoolCafe offers a quick and easy way for parents to put money into their children’s school meal accounts any time, from any Internet connection including smartphones and tablets. Parents can view account balances, see purchase history, create low-balance reminders, and make payments.  Please click on the SchoolCafe link and follow directions to setup your new student online account.

  • To request a refund of unused money on account, please go to the Collierville Schools Central Office, located at 215 W. Poplar Ave., Collierville, TN 38017. There, you will be provided the Lunch Account Refund Request form for completion. You will be asked to present your picture ID at that time. Upon completion of the form at Central Office, the request will be submitted to Accounts Payable for processing. All refunds will be made via direct deposit.   • Checks will be accepted for the 2024/25 school year starting August 1, 2024.

    Checks are accepted in all schools.  During the school year, please make checks payable to the school and write your child's name on the check. Please note that no checks will be accepted after May 16, 2025 but schools will resume accepting checks at the next year's orientation.

  • Many families have busy schedules that make it difficult for their children to sit down in the morning to eat a nutritious breakfast. A good breakfast is essential for good health and academic success. Eating school breakfast helps to alleviate that morning hunger as well as provide adequate nutrition for good health. Some of the ways that eating breakfast at school may improve a child’s academic performance include:

    • Children who eat breakfast make fewer mistakes and work faster in the classroom.
    • Children who eat breakfast at school – closer to class and test-taking time – perform better on standardized tests than those who skip breakfast or eat breakfast at home.
    • Providing breakfast to students at school improves their concentration, alertness, comprehension, memory, and learning.
    • Children who increase their school breakfast participation as a result of a school breakfast program show greater improvements in math scores, attendance, punctuality, depression, anxiety, and hyperactivity than children whose participation remains unchanged or decreases.

Our Mission: Child Nutrition

School Nutrition participates in the National School Lunch (NSL) and School Breakfast Programs (NSB). The United States Department of Agriculture administers these programs and has established guidelines that must be followed by the District.

School lunch, as it is known today, came into being in 1946 as a result of the National School Lunch Act. That law was intended to safeguard the health and well being of the nation’s children and to encourage the domestic consumption of agricultural commodities.

The School Breakfast Program began as a pilot program under the Child Nutrition Act of 1966. We currently serve breakfast in all Collierville schools.

NSL guidelines specify the type of meal to be served and the quantities of each food that must be offered. An emphasis is placed on vegetables and fresh fruit. A variety of low fat milk choices are offered daily. The nutritive value of each item is evaluated so healthy choices are available to students but still provide familiar and desired foods.
